There's no word yet as to when "SEAL Team" might return to Paramount+ or when the show plans to start production on season 6. It's no surprise that CBS would try to build a show around the actor.ĬBS will announce its fall series lineup in May. The "Cal Fire" premise sounds promising, and Thieriot shares many of the qualities that made Boreanaz such a big star for the last two decades. If you're a Clay Spenser fan, it's probably best to start your mourning now. If CBS doesn't like "Cal Fire" enough to order it as a series, "SEAL Team" could bring back Spenser in at least a recurring role. He shared a photo thread on Instagram showing off just how much his physique changed from before he started filming SEAL Team up to Season 5. The fact that Thieriot is cast in this pilot doesn't necessarily mean that Spenser died in that firefight. While there’s no truth to Max having an amputated leg in real life, there is a lot to say about the five-year body transformation he underwent for his role on the show. He'll be joined by Billy Burke ("Twilight") as the town's fire chief, and Kevin Alejandro ("Lucifer") as the captain in charge of the inmate firefighting detail. The project has personal significance for Thieriot, who grew up in California fire country, came up with the idea for the series, and co-wrote the pilot script. Now there's word that Thieriot is set to star in the CBS pilot "Cal Fire" as Bode Donovan, a man who looks to shorten his prison sentence and find redemption by joining a firefighting team in his Northern California hometown. Failure isnt an option for the new Navy SEALs, and that kind of pressure can take a toll on the members of the special operations forces most elite unit. Boreanaz has been the lead on a television series for this entire century, first on the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spinoff "Angel," then the FBI procedural "Bones" and straight into "SEAL Team." Since David Boreanaz is the undeniable star of the show and also one of its executive producers, odds have always been good that he'd come back alive. Believe it or not, though, there is a pretty big difference between Max Thieriot looking like he knows how to handle a gun and Max Thieriot handling a gun as a Navy SEAL would.
